Sally Nelson is a ceramicist based in Portland, Oregon. She specializes in hand-built textural vessels inspired by patterns found in the natural world.

Sally has over twenty years of experience teaching art, including at The  Children’s Art Institute in the Portland area. She formerly founded a nonprofit that provided ceramics and painting experiences to patients with dementia, and developed an adult art curriculum called "Meta Painting," which combines painting and guided meditation.

Sally actively seeks fresh perspectives to utilize in her work by studying plant and animal life, European architecture and labyrinths, ancient symbolism, and is especially fascinated by the Fibonacci sequence found in shell spirals.
